Feedback from Christophe

To test our Snorkel, Christophe took advantage of his trip to Iceland to validate and confirm the robustness of our first model. We invite you to discover his feedback and experience with our product.

This test took place during his 4,000 km road trip in Iceland, lasting 21 days on tracks that were 60% off-road. This destination is not harmless, as Iceland combines a range of extreme conditions such as corrugated terrain, meaning that the road is sandy and swept by winds forming “small waves”. But there are also other challenges, such as numerous river crossings, fech-fech (thick, sticky fine dust) and many rocky roads.

Christophe’s opinion:

During this long trip, the Snorkel did not move or vibrate despite all the stresses. The snorkel did its job when fording rivers, with no water entering the intake (the Snorkel being located much higher than the exhaust). This is an advantage because, according to local mechanics who rescue 4x4s and motorcycles stuck in fords every week, if water gets into the intake, the engine will inevitably break down. So the Snorkel not only allows you to cross deeper fords, but also protects the engine from damage if the driver gets a little too enthusiastic.

Be careful, however, as the maximum depth not to be exceeded is the height of the exhaust pipe. Don’t forget that the ground is uneven (e.g., pebbles), so you need to leave a little margin to avoid flooding the engine.
